Color Research/Color Pallet

Today I thought I would look into the color pallet or potential color scheme for my magazine. In many travel magazines I feel that colors are extremely important and tend to also be brighter. In the covers, table of contents, and double page spreads I looked at of various travel magazine I noticed a common theme in the color schemes. I found that many of the colors used were or brighter shades. These vibrant colors make the pictures and specifically the location seem more appealing.

Continuously, along with using brighter colors, I also feel that the colors used should be reflective of the specific location be highlighted in my magazine. Because I plan on highlighting Puerto Rico in my magazine I thought the colors should reflect the pictures I plan to take of different locations around the island. After some deliberation I came up with a few different pallents using a wesite called coolors.co. Below I listed the differnt color pallets that I created.

Why I liked some of the colors that appered in this pallet. I did not like the specific shade of orange and the way in which it contratsed with the harsher black, and for this reason I decided I would not use this pallet.

This pallet spoke to me specifically due to the differnt hues of blue. Because my magzine is based on an isalnd I think it is important to include blue in the color pallet. I also like the orange and pink as pops of colors as I believe this will tie in the vibrant colors found throughout cities in Puerto Rico.

I originally loved this color pallet above as it included a varity of colors while remianing somewhat mellow. However after some refection, I relaized that I want the color pallent to include a shade or too that is more vibrant to reflect the island and how colorful it can be.

I enjoy this color pallet and the use of blues and greens, however I think that while I would be inclined to use different shades of both blues and green to emphasize the location, which is a island surrounded by beautiful beaches. I also want to include more colors such as pinks or oranges, rather than the nude chade paired with these colors.

Affter creating this color pallet, I decided that I did not prefer it for my cover or double page spread. While I think that these colors are great for reflecting georgraphy or a physical location taht includes sand or bushes, I dont think these colors could tie in buildings or cities that I will picture throughout my magzine.

This was one of my favorite pallets that I created and believe that I will refer to it often when deciding on the colors that I want to include throughout my magzine. I may stary from these colors slightly, but overall I want to try and tie these colors into my pages to remain somewhat cohesive. I also acknowledge that the colors I use may slightly change based on teh colors present in the pictures I choose to include on each page an the picture that becomes the main cover photo.

I decided to include this last color pallet because of the red and green shades included in it. I feel that both of these shades are bright and could bring an uplighting aditiude or illicite these feeling in readers. For this reaosn I plan on using these colors within my pages to add some pops of color and brighten an areas that are more dull. I also plan on utlizing this shade of white as an accent or in some text coloring.
